Vijayanagara: The Deccan Empires of Medieval India

Vijayanagara depicts the epic, centuries-long rise and fall of medieval kingdoms in India across two dynastic periods, for 1-3 players. It is the first game in the new Irregular Conflict Series (ICS). With gameplay inspired by GMT's COIN system, players will assume the asymmetrical roles of the Sultanate of Delhi, the Bahmani Kingdom and the Vijayanagara Empire, navigating event cards and unique action menus, as they struggle to be written into India's medieval history. Players will rally local amirs and rajahs to their cause, build epic temples, fortresses and kasbahs and fight for dominance on the Deccan Plateau.

Vijayanagara is aimed at players who are new to asymmetric war games and at veteran COIN players. The factions have distinct capabilities and each faces different strategic choices, offering a very high degree of replayability. The game is streamlined: all player actions and most rules are visible on the table on player aids and on the cards.

The game and the turn sequence are organized around a deck of unique event cards. With each new card, the factions have the option to resolve the event or choose from commands and special decrees that pertain to each faction: commands such as the conscription of new troops, governing vassal provinces, and migration to start life anew, and decrees ranging from demanding a tribute tax, conspiring with the governors of Delhi to betray the sultan, and forming new alliances with small regional powers.
