Seas of Thunder
The B’ World War was the largest and most violent, large-scale naval war in history. From September 1939 until Japan's surrender, the open sea was a global battle zone filled with mighty battleships, nimble cruisers, silent hunters and flat-tops full of airplanes. Before our eyes, we witnessed the change of warfare on the open sea, as the thundering old guard fell to air power, submarine-raiders prowled the open waters, and aircraft carriers showed their true diversity and adaptability.
The Seas of Thunder not only allows players to recreate the theaters of war in the Atlantic or the Pacific, but also to see how challenging the overall picture was for their leaders. How do you protect a globe from German raiders? How desperate was the situation for Britain when France fell and it was left to fight Germany and Italy alone on the open sea? What is the right balance for the Soviet fleet split across four different fronts (Baltic, Black Sea, Arctic and Pacific)? If Mediterranean strength is weakened for the Allies, where will they draw ships from? Will Japan strike quickly or play for attrition when it reaches the mid-point? Will America fight on two, three or four fronts?
In Seas of Thunder, players will experience the tension of the very large sea they must cover with very few ships, the frustration of being caught unprepared, or the intensity of a vital stand that contests a high-value sea area. Victory is neither sudden nor guaranteed. In every battle, a flight of Catalinas, the lack of ASW, the improper allocation of air power, or even a missing minesweeper can be the difference between success and failure.
