Based on the battles fought by American forces in the days following the Normandy landing, Invasion 1944 has been specially designed to introduce new players to the Panzer Grenadier system. Each player commands the troops, tanks and artillery of the American army and the German Wehrmacht, using leaders to activate and move forces.
There are twenty-one scenarios (separate battle situations) that depict the battles, which are presented gradually – you only need to learn a few of the rules to play the first scenarios, then a few more rules for some more complex scenarios, and so on. Panzer Grenadier is already a fairly easy game system to learn to play, and with Invasion 1944 it is even easier.
There is a lot here for veteran Panzer Grenadier players as well: Two new maps by Guy Riessen, depicting the bocage and the rural expanses of Normandy. 176 new game pieces (including units, leaders and counters). Twenty-one new scenarios by ace designer Mike Perryman, most of which are based on actions of the 29th «Blue-and-White» Infantry Division of the American Army.
