Gunsen: The Battle for Toshi Ranbo – Board Game
Gunsen: The Battle for Toshi Ranbo is a dynamic strategy and area control board game in the legendary universe of Legend of the Five Rings. Designed by Ben Rosset and Matthew O’Malley and published by Office Dog, it transports 2–6 players to Rokugan, where the seven Great Clans clash for control of the famous fortress Toshi Ranbo.
In the game, each player takes on one of the seven iconic factions: Crab, Crane, Dragon, Lion, Phoenix, Scorpion, or Unicorn. Each clan has its own unique abilities and secret objectives, creating different strategies and high replayability.
Victory in battle is not achieved solely through the strength of the army. The Gunsen board game combines area control and tableau building, requiring proper timing, smart development of your clan, and careful utilization of available resources. As the tableau evolves, new combinations and opportunities arise to outmaneuver your opponents and gain control of critical areas.
Players recruit heroes, use orders and battle tactics, gather Influence, Wood, and Koku, and contest strategic locations. The conflict for Toshi Ranbo lies at the heart of a showdown where military might, influence, and proper development must work harmoniously.
Despite its strategic depth, Gunsen: The Battle for Toshi Ranbo is designed as a quick and accessible introduction to area control board games, with a core duration of about 45 minutes.
Ideal for fans of Legend of the Five Rings board games, strategy board games, area control games, tableau building games, samurai games, and the world of Rokugan, Gunsen offers multiple paths to victory and intense interaction among players.
