Engine Thieves – Strategic Board Game Themed on the American Civil War for 1-2 Players
Engine Thieves is an immersive strategic board game based on real historical events of the American Civil War. The player or players take on roles in one of the period's boldest sabotage missions: the famous raid of James Andrews in 1862, where a group of Northerners seized the locomotive “The General” with the aim of disrupting the South's transportation and reinforcements.
As the Northern player, you are tasked with collecting at least 25 victory points by destroying railroad bridges, cutting telegraph lines, and reaching Bridgeport. The road is full of obstacles, as you are behind enemy lines, with limited resources, under constant surveillance, and with your pursuers closing in. Conversely, as the Southern player in a two-player game, your objective is to stop the raiders, preventing their actions and inflicting losses.
The game runs in 15-minute time intervals, requiring precise planning of actions. It includes resource management, the use of action cards, and the resolution of encounters with civilians and stations in a highly thematic and historically faithful setting. The game's language is English, with a high language dependence due to the detailed descriptions of cards and scenarios.
Ideal for 1-2 players, ages 14+, with an average duration of 90-120 minutes, Engine Thieves is a unique experience for fans of history, strategy, and thematic board games.
