Dog Boats: Battle of the Narrow Seas is a tactical-level combat game where you (as the Captain) take command of either a squadron of Royal Navy Fairmile D motor gunboats (MGB) or Vosper 72′ motor torpedo boats in the Channel or the North Sea between 1943 – 1944. Your main goal is to survive the war while sinking as many enemy ships as you and your squadron can.
The enemies you and your crew will face include a variety of enemy vessels, such as E-boats, R-Boats, and patrol aircraft. Weather and sea state are also modeled.
The player will move his squadron through various travel boxes on a Channel or North Sea map during each mission on the way to the patrol area and then must successfully return to base.
The game components include a crew placement mat, strategic map mat, several chart books, crew status sheets, a campaign log sheet, and counter sheets representing individual MGBs, MTBs, enemy aircraft, warships, etc.
