The Commands & Colors: Medieval – Expansion 1: Crusades Mid-Eastern Battles I expansion is the first addition to GMT Games' popular war board game, taking players from Byzantine conflicts to the epic battles of the Crusades. Although it was originally designed to follow the chronological order, the transition to the Crusades offers exciting strategic challenges while preserving the essence of the base game.

The expansion includes 20 historical scenarios, such as the battles of Nicaea (1097), Dorylaeum, Hattin (1187), and Montgisard (1177). New units are introduced, such as:

- Knight Infantry
In addition, new mechanics are added, such as:
- Impulsive Pursuit
