1833NE Board Game – Strategy Board Game 18xx from GMT Games

The 1833NE Board Game is a new game from the popular 18xx series, designed by Tom Lehmann and GMT Games. Set in Northeastern America (New England) in the early 19th century, 1833NE offers a deep experience of economic strategy, where players invest in railroad companies, develop line networks, and compete for dominance in transportation.

Unlike many larger-scale 18xx games, 1833NE focuses on the regional development of New England's railroads. The smaller geographical scale creates more intense competition, while the constantly changing external conditions require players to continuously adjust their strategy.

The base version of the game draws inspiration from the beloved 1846: The Race for the Midwest, retaining elements such as the linear stock market, the availability of multiple types of trains in each phase, and the construction costs of most railroad lines. At the same time, it introduces new features such as ferries, small towns, interconnection bonuses, and auctions for the distribution of private companies, offering greater variety and strategic depth.

The Takeover Mode is another significant addition, introducing five variable starting railroad companies and a mechanism for acquisitions, through which one company can absorb another, increasing the limit of trains it can manage. This creates new economic opportunities and significantly differentiates each game.

As additional content, the 1833NE Board Game also includes the 1846 Mini Expansion, providing added value to holders of the first edition of 1846.
