The British Way is the first of many COIN multi-packs, which contain four separate games that explore a range of thematically related insurgencies. Between 1945 and 1960, the British fought four major “emergencies”, as their campaigns to deal with insurgencies were described, each attempting to manage their retreat from empire. The four games in this pack focus on exploring British counterinsurgency responses against a variety of different opponents, including communist insurgents in Malaysia, militant nationalists in Kenya and smaller, more clandestine terrorist organizations in Palestine and Cyprus.
The games adapt the core COIN mechanics to provide an exciting new way of handling two-player conflicts, while also streamlining several mechanics to speed up play. The British Way offers an accessible introduction to the COIN series for new players, while also presenting experienced players with four mechanically distinct games to explore and compare.
