Port Arthur – Strategy Board Game
Port Arthur is a fast and exciting historical strategy board game for 2 players, depicting the critical naval operations of the Russo-Japanese War in the early 20th century. Designed by Yasushi Nakaguro and published by Nuts! Publishing, Port Arthur combines naval warfare, area control, dice rolling, and strategic fleet management into a compact wargame with intensity from the first to the last round.
In the Port Arthur board game, one player takes on the forces of Japan and attempts to conduct landings in Manchuria, while the opponent commands the Russian forces and tries to thwart the Japanese advance until the long-awaited reinforcements of the Baltic Fleet arrive.
Each ship has different characteristics of Gunnery Strength, Defense, and Speed, making the composition and proper utilization of the fleet crucial. Players conduct sorties, move their fleets, engage in naval battles, and contest control of strategic maritime areas.
The game concludes in just 6 rounds, creating an extremely tight strategic framework where every decision carries weight. Victory does not simply depend on the destruction of opposing ships, but on the control of critical maritime zones and the achievement of each side's strategic objectives.
Port Arthur from Nuts! Publishing is the second game in the Combat Rations series, following 300: Earth & Water. It is an accessible yet substantial naval wargame, ideal for fans of historical board games, war games, two-player strategy games, military games, and naval strategy games.
