Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy – Seekers (exp.)

This upcoming expansion introduces two new species to play Eclipse – 2nd Dawn for the Galaxy with the Magellan and the Enlightened of Lyra.

The Magellan:

The Magellan travel forever between galaxies with their vast starships, collecting relics of civilizations long gone. Their ships synthesize resources from cosmic debris and are able to maintain the starship during the long centuries spent in the void. The Wardens have specialized in detecting relics of the Ancients, seeking their source. As the Ancients rise, the great starships reach the fringes of our galaxy. The Council's informants claim that the pattern of their appearance suggests that the Magellans are not here merely to explore and exploit, but to pursue long-term galactic domination.

The Magellan gain a free discovery tile from technological advancement and earn points at the end of the game for discovery tiles used as ship components. They can use their colony ships to gain resources.

The Enlightened of Lyra:

The Enlightened preferred the isolation of the Lyra system, slowly expanding the ornate lattice of their Shrines into neighboring star systems and elevating their minds to it. The Enlightened only recently came into contact with the Seven, when the edges of the expanding lattice were discovered. As the Shrines link in the process of sublimation of the mind, they form powerful Triads that reshape the underlying manifold structure, allowing significant leaps in the advancement of civilization. The Enlightened's colonization fleets are said to have exploited the lattice, causing small distortions in the causal continuum and reversing the flow of several battles.

The Enlightened build Shrines, which allow them to unlock bonuses and earn points at the end of the game. They can use their colony ships to reset the dice.

The Second Dawn versions of these factions have many small balance improvements, such as adjustments to starting resources and sectors. The Enlightened also have a completely revamped Shrine mechanism.
