Bitoku

In Bitoku, players take on the roles of the forest's Bitoku spirits on their path to ascension. They seek to elevate themselves and become the next great spirit of the forest. To achieve this, they will have the help of yōkai, kodamas and various pilgrims who accompany them on their journey.

Players will have yōkai represented by the cards that make up their hand. These cards must be placed in the right spots at the right time. In addition, during the game players can earn more yōkai cards for their deck. This way they increase their gameplay options and achieve a higher score. Each player also has three yōkai guardians (in the form of dice) whom they can send to the major regions of the forest. This way they will gain all kinds of new options they can play during the game. These options can be constructions they build in certain regions of the forest. Soul crystals as well that generate resources when certain actions are performed, and many others too. Finally players have the opportunity to help the mitama, lost souls seeking redemption, using the chinkon fireflies.

There is truly a wide range of actions to carry out, and that's without taking the personal area into account. There players can develop yet another level of added strategy while managing the pilgrims. The pilgrims are the player's followers who embark on journeys of recollection and contemplation. These pilgrims share the experiences and learning they gain along the spiritual path with Bitoku.
