In Dice Settlers, players control a group of serfs and diggers. Their goal is to explore, settle and govern the new land. Dice Settlers offers a variety of options in dice management and the choice of actions. However, it retains the classic features of 4X: map exploration, area control, player conflict and technology development.
In games of Dice Settlers, the board will be formed from map tiles. Players will use their tents and houses to compete for control of those tiles. These correspond to points at the end of the game and/or grant bonus abilities to the players who are present.
The dice represent various people who are able to work for you. They use their abilities to explore, trade, research and expand. Your dice should be drawn from your bag, rolled, and then returned to the bag when it is empty.
Tents are used to make your presence known on the map. Whoever has the most tents on a tile controls that tile. Tents can be upgraded to houses, which indicates permanent control of a tile. Technology cards are both a source of points and an opportunity to acquire special abilities that will help you during the game.
