The Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation is an exciting strategy game for 2 players by acclaimed designer Reiner Knizia, based on the legendary world of The Lord of the Rings and J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth.
The two sides have completely different objectives. One player controls the Fellowship of the Ring, trying to lead Frodo to Mordor to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom. The opponent commands the dark forces of Sauron, seeking the Ring-bearer and trying to reclaim the Ring.
The real tension lies in the uncertainty. Characters move with their identities hidden from the opponent and are revealed when they meet. Each hero and each dark character has unique abilities, turning the confrontation into a game of bluffing, deduction, hidden information, and tactical movement.
The Fellowship and the forces of Sauron are asymmetric, so each side requires a different strategy. Anticipating the opponent's moves, deception, and proper utilization of characters are crucial for victory.
This specific modern edition refreshes Knizia's classic design with new presentation and additional content while maintaining the fast-paced and highly competitive nature of the game.
