Revive : The Call of The Abyss (exp.)
“The melted waters of the glaciers form giant lakes. And from microscopic spores that have remained in the deepest layers of the ice, a new lifeform emerges. And the lakes become the home of the Scyphoz.
The Scyphoz hide vast knowledge and wisdom. We will settle near their lakes to learn from them. We will submit to their will to honor them. We will complete the journeys they prepare for us. We will serve and be granted grace. This is the call of the abyss”. -Nàdair
The expansion The Revive: Call of the Abyss introduces the mysterious lifeform Scyphoz, which lives in the giant lakes formed by the meltwater from glaciers. By building near lakes, you earn loyalty points, which allow you to access the new and powerful Scyphoz cards. You can also use switch energy to start journeys, sending your citizens on missions to gain more loyalty points.
Besides the 16 Scyphoz cards, the 18 journey cards, the 3 lakes and the loyalty track, this expansion contains 15 new machine tokens, 9 docking units, 9 new citizen cards and four new tribes, with all the content (except the Cordycephians tribe) being compatible with solo play. The four new tribe boards have only one advanced side and each has its own unique rules, advanced abilities and technologies:
The KAIROS they have two modes – day and night – and their abilities depend on the current mode. Switching between the two modes at the right time is vital for the success of this tribe.
The GIB’WARKS they have access to powerful gadgets that boost their switch actions and can unlock more gadgets for even greater flexibility. Their tribe's ability allows them to reset their switch, which is powerful, because the switch action is even more important now that it allows you to start journeys.
The OSTARIUS they build massive gates which they can activate and deactivate, helping or hindering other players. The gates require considerable space, but if placed correctly, the OSTARIUS can temporarily block sections of the game board, potentially securing them for themselves.
The CORDYCEPHIANS they drain other players, exploiting their cards, their buildings, even their technologies. The CORDYCEPHIANS must therefore adapt their strategy to the opponents they face.
