The Horror on the Orient Express: The Board Game transports the dark world of Call of Cthulhu into an atmospheric cooperative horror board game filled with investigation, mystery, cultists, and Lovecraftian terror. Designed by Adam Kwapiński and Michał Gołąb Gołębiowski and published by Chaosium, the game invites 1–4 investigators on a journey with the legendary Orient Express that soon turns into a nightmare.
We are in the 1920s. The luxurious train is moving towards the mysterious realm of the Dreamlands, but among the passengers lurk murderous cults, while monsters attack the train and a terrifying eldritch vampire entity hunts anything that moves.
In the game, players cooperate to uncover clues, identify the cultists, and prevent a horrific ritual before it is too late. Each investigator can develop new skills, gather items, converse with passengers, reveal clues, and even learn spells. The team's decisions can ultimately determine the fate of the entire train.
The mechanics combine cooperative gameplay, deduction, action retrieval, deck/bag/pool building, modular board, narrative choices, push your luck, variable player powers, and scenario-based gameplay, creating a rich experience of mystery and strategy.
The board game is designed for 1–4 players, supports solo play, and each session lasts about 90–120 minutes.
