Players take on the role of one of the four main marine animal groups: reptiles, fish, cephalopods, or crustaceans. Each begins in ecological balance, but soon an intense battle for dominance begins.
The game combines worker placement and area control mechanics. Players use action pawns to perform actions such as specialization, migration, adaptation, and evolution. Each action is activated immediately upon placing the pawn, offering dynamism and strategic flexibility. Additionally, players can acquire special pawns with enhanced abilities, offering additional advantages.
As the game progresses, players try to expand their species' presence across various marine environments, adapt to new conditions, and gain victory points through dominance in elements and regions.
