Chicago: 15 February 1929. It is a cold winter day, when the investigator's good friend, Hattie May, appears at their office at the police office. Her beloved pet dog, Haimbol, is due to be destroyed later today and needs the investigator's help to get him back from the Chicago police department. Doesn't sound like a very difficult task, does it?
