The Call of Cthulhu RPG- Alone Against the Tide is set in the 1920s. It is a horror adventure for the role-playing game Call of Cthulhu. You take on the role of an investigator who travels to the wealthy, picturesque and remote lakeside town of Esbury, Massachusetts. You decide your course through the story by choosing from the options presented. Your choices do not only affect what will happen to your investigator. They also affect the fate of Esbury's residents and visitors. Even the town itself!
In Call of Cthulhu RPG- Alone Against the Tide you can choose to create your own investigator or use the pre-generated investigator, Dr. E. Woods, professor of archaeology at Miskatonic University. There are various reasons for visiting Esbury, but almost all are in some way connected to Esbury resident, Professor William Harris.
What does Professor Harris's research have to do with the strange green mist that wraps the town? Who are the threatening, black-clad men who arrived on the ship with your investigator? And why is a Buddhist monk visiting Esbury, a town more accustomed to entertaining New England's wealthy elite?
Armed with a pencil, a few dice and a copy of Call of Cthulhu: Keeper Rulebook or the Call of Cthulhu Starter Set, are you ready to face the misty streets of Esbury.
