Barrage: The Far Companies – Expansion

The Barrage: The Far Companies is a new strategic expansion for Barrage, enriching the demanding economic and industrial board game of Cranio Creations with two new asymmetric companies: the Japanese and the Brazilian. The Barrage The Far Companies expansion requires the base game Barrage and offers new strategic options, different construction methods, and even greater variability in the games.

The Japanese Company uses Bases and Elevations inspired by earth-fill dams. The Elevations can be used as Bases, allowing the construction of more dams. However, these dams have a limited height and therefore lower capacity. Additionally, Excavators are used for the construction of Elevations instead of Concrete Mixers, creating a completely different machinery management strategy.

The Brazilian Company focuses on flexibility. Bases, Elevations, and Conduits can be constructed in different orders, offering greater choice in strength and bonuses. However, the strongest benefits come at a significant cost, as they can lead to permanent loss of machinery. Both companies gain a special Company Ability when they construct the third Powerhouse.

The expansion further enhances the asymmetric gameplay, worker placement, resource management, and long-term strategic planning of Barrage. Designed by Tommaso Battista and Simone Luciani, it is primarily aimed at experienced players who are already familiar with the base game.

An ideal addition for those seeking Barrage expansions, strategy board games, heavy Euro games, economic games, and games with strong asymmetry and high strategic depth.
