The Barrage: The China Challenge is a major strategic expansion for the successful Barrage, shifting the competition for hydroelectric power production to China. With an all-new thematic area, new mechanisms, and the Chinese company, the expansion adds even more options to one of the most demanding economic strategy board games.

One of the most significant additions is the 18 Landscape Tiles. These are new constructions that display the required cost and, when completed, essentially transform the map. Players can gain regional bonuses, create new common action spaces, and activate permanent effects, making the development of the map even more dynamic.

The China Challenge also introduces the new map of the Yellow River. Two Natural Lakes can hold water drops, creating new challenges in flow management and energy production planning.
