Last of the V8 Interceptors (1979) – 1973 Ford Falcon XB 1:43
Mad Max is a 1979 Australian dystopian action film, directed by George Miller and produced by Byron Kennedy. Mel Gibson stars as the “Mad” Max Rockatansky, a police officer turned vigilante in a near-future Australia in the midst of social collapse. Joanne Samuel, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Steve Bisley, Tim Burns and Roger Ward also appear in supporting roles. James McCausland and Miller wrote the screenplay from a story by Miller and Kennedy.
In a dystopian future Australia, a vicious violent gang of motorcyclists, nicknamed Nightrider, murders a policeman's family and makes the fight with them personal. He escapes police surveillance by killing a police officer and stealing his vehicle. Max pursues the Nightrider in a high-speed chase, which ends with the Nightrider's death in a fiery explosion. After the dangerous chase, which resulted in the injury of several police officers, the police chief warns Max, who is not thinking about it at all at that moment, that the gang is now hunting him because of the Nightrider's death. The motorcycle gang, led by Toecutter, plans to avenge the Nightrider's death by killing MFP policemen. Toecutter's young protégé, the biker Johnny the Boy, sets a trap for Max's close friend and colleague, Jim Goose. When Goose's vehicle overturns, the bikers burn him alive in retaliation for the Nightrider's death.
Mad Max became the first in the series, giving rise to the subsequent films: Mad Max 2 (1981), Beyond Thunderdome (1985) and Fury Road (2015). A fifth film titled Furiosa was announced in 2020.
