The famous founder stands in front of his team and delivers a rousing speech. “You all know that our first customer was crazy and the second wanted to die. So, they bought our contraptions without brakes. So there were some accidents. But the only mistake is the one from which we learn nothing. This year, customers demand safety. Of course, active safety features include rapid acceleration for safe overtaking! I know it will be difficult to add the new engine-block section to the factory. But before you say you can't do something, try it! To every mechanic, every designer, every mechanic and every salesperson of this great company I say: If I can dream it, you can do it too!”.

Horseless Carriage is a game about the dawn of the automobile: a time when cars were invented and no one yet knew what this new contraption would look like or which features would be necessary. Early cars sometimes used levers or pedals to steer and a wheel to accelerate. Brakes were not always considered necessary, but sometimes it was necessary to have a mechanic on board. This early, highly innovative period appears in the development of many new product categories. Players take on the roles of aspiring industrialists who try to discover which features the public will value when buying these new, expensive and completely unknown horseless carriages.
