Designed by Rodrigo Rego and Danilo Valente, Abroad supports 1–5 players, is aimed at ages 12 and up, and lasts about 90 minutes. With 240 location cards and ten regions, it offers many options to organize your route. Each destination brings different outcomes and opportunities for card combinations, while postcards set goals that yield points at the end.
The game progresses in four rounds, each corresponding to seven days. In each round, you can stay in your area or travel by plane, spending money, or by train, consuming energy. Then you choose whether to write about your destination, rest, plan your next steps, or perform an activity from your cards.
Managing time, resources, and cards is at the heart of the game. The locations you visit are added to your personal diary and contribute symbols for fulfilling goals. Schedule your visits, leverage synergies, and seek the right moment for additional benefits. Festivals, attractions, and personal travel desires give character to every decision.
For those who love solo board games, Abroad includes a one-player game against an automated opponent. You can influence its movements by paying money or energy.
