Franklin 1864 – Historical Tabletop War Strategy (Wargame)
The Franklin 1864 is a historical tabletop war strategy (historical wargame) of Worthington Publishing, which transports players to the decisive battles of Spring Hill and Franklin, in Tennessee, during the American Civil War. Using the Civil War Brigade Battle Series rule system, it offers the opportunity to reenact two significant conflicts of November 1864.
On November 29, 1864, at the Battle of Spring Hill, General John Bell Hood of the South attempted to trap the Union forces under General John Schofield. However, the Northerners managed to escape and retreat towards Franklin.
The next day, on November 30, the bloody Battle of Franklin followed. Hood launched a desperate attack against the fortified Union forces, resulting in one of the heaviest defeats for the South in the Tennessee campaign.
In Franklin 1864, players take command of the Union or Confederacy troops, plan their brigades' movements, and attempt to seize strategic positions on the battlefield.
The game includes two separate historical battles, which can be played independently or combined into a linked two-day campaign (mini-campaign). Every decision requires careful assessment of the tactical situation, troop deployment, and objective goals.
As the fifth title in the Civil War Brigade Battle Series, following Antietam, Shiloh, The Seven Days Battles, and Gettysburg, Franklin 1864 appeals to fans of American Civil War wargames, historical tabletop strategy, and military simulation games.
