Queen of Spies – Board Game of Espionage
The Queen of Spies is an atmospheric solo board game of espionage, designed by Liz Davidson and David Thompson and published by Salt & Pepper Games. Set against the backdrop of occupied Belgium during World War I, the game combines historical themes, espionage, strategic decisions, and intense narrative gameplay into an experience designed exclusively for one player.
In the board game Queen of Spies, you take on the role of Alice, a former journalist turned head of a secret network of spies. From Saint-François de Sales, you recruit brave agents, train them in specialized skills, and send them behind enemy lines. Your goal is to gather valuable information, sabotage enemy plans, and complete critical missions before time runs out.
The Queen of Spies solo board game unfolds through independent stories, each divided into three chapters. A chapter lasts about 20 minutes, while a complete story offers about an hour of narrative gameplay. This way, you can play a short mission or indulge in a complete espionage story.
Your choices determine the outcome: which operatives to recruit, where to send them, and how to react when an operation takes a dangerous turn. The game uses hand management and a unique bag-building system, the Success Bag, for managing risk and success.
The Queen of Spies from Salt & Pepper Games is an excellent choice for fans of solo board games, espionage games, historical board games, WWI games, narrative games, and strategy card games looking for historical atmosphere and intensity in a short duration.
