The Joker, a comic character and adversary of the DC Comics superhero Batman, is distinguished by his clown appearance and twisted sense of humor. He was originally depicted as a small-time crook, was disfigured and driven insane by an accident with toxic chemicals. He was portrayed with chalk-white skin, ruby-red lips permanently fixed in a demonic smile, and bright green hair.
