Pop! Figure Parliament Funkadelic – George Clinton
George Edward Clinton is an American musician, singer, bandleader and record producer. The collective Parliament-Funkadelic (which mostly recorded under the distinct names Parliament and Funkadelic) developed an influential and eclectic form of funk music during the 1970s, which drew inspiration from science fiction, outlandish fashion, psychedelia and surreal humor. He began his solo career with the album Computer Games in 1982 and influenced hip hop and the G-funk of the 1990s.
Clinton is regarded, along with James Brown and Sly Stone, as one of the major innovators of funk music. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, along with 15 other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. In 2019, he and Parliament-Funkadelic were honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards.
