It is the year 1913. The steamship SS Atlantica is two days out from port on its voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. Its unsuspecting passengers fully expected a peaceful voyage to Boston, Massachusetts, with nothing unusual awaiting them. However, strange nightmares plague the minds of the ship's passengers each night- rumors circulate of dark shapes trailing closely behind the ship just beneath the waves- and tensions rise when a body is discovered in the ship's chapel, with the signs of a bizarre ritual strewn around the corpse.

In the depths of the Atlantic Ocean lurks a swarm of malevolent, unspeakable horrors: the Deep Ones, led by Mother Hydra and Father Dagon. For unknown reasons, they have set their sights on the Atlantica, and their minions, in the form of human hybrids, have infiltrated the steamship to help sink it from within.

In each game of Unfathomable one or more players take on the role of one of these hybrids, and how well they can secretly sabotage the efforts of the other players can mean the difference between a successful voyage and a sunken ship. If you are human, you must repel the Deep Ones, prevent the Atlantica from taking heavy damage, and carefully manage the ship's four critical resources if you hope to reach Boston, while simultaneously trying to figure out which of your fellow players are friends and which are foes.
