Hell of a Deal – Cooperative Poker Board Game
Hell of a Deal is a thematic cooperative poker game from Smirk & Dagger Games, designed by Cameron Reid, that turns a night of Texas Hold’em into a showdown against the Devil himself. Players do not compete against each other: they cooperate to face the House, the devilish Bosses, and ultimately The Devil Himself, in a poker game full of risk, cheating, and tough decisions.
In the board game Hell of a Deal, each Boss changes the rules and the way you must approach the hand. The system is based on Texas Hold’em, but instead of two cards, players receive three, gaining more options to create the right poker hand.
And because you are in Hell, cheating is part of the game. The Favor cards offer powerful ways to bypass the usual poker rules, but they can burden you with Curses or Temptation. The Power chips provide additional abilities, while the Souls you earn are essential for the final showdown. However, if you accumulate too much Temptation, the entire team can lose.
The game combines cooperative gameplay, poker, betting, bluffing, and hand management with a unique casino-horror theme. The retail version includes 52 custom poker chips, a large neoprene poker mat, four neoprene player mats, a poker deck, Boss cards, and Curse/Favor cards, creating the feel of a complete poker night.
With a duration of about 90 minutes and designed for 1–4 players, Hell of a Deal appeals to both board gamers who love poker and groups looking for a different cooperative strategy game.
