Septima
Only in a few corners of the world is the memory of magic still alive, even though a few centuries ago its healing power permeated everything. The witches, its last remaining practitioners, have always been outcasts and could only help human society with strict secrecy. The leader of their people, Septima, was always the wisest and most knowledgeable witch. Now, as her time draws to an end, witches from all over the world gather in Noctenburg to leave their mark on the hostile city and to prove to Septima that they are worthy successors.
Septima is a competitive, highly interactive game of magical strategy. As the leader of your faction, you must prove your worth in the city of Noctenburg to become the successor of Septima, the Great Witch. Practice your craft and gain Wisdom by collecting herbs, brewing potions, healing the city's inhabitants, learning spells and saving your brothers and sisters from the trials. But beware: magic, even when used for good, arouses suspicion among the city's inhabitants…
Simultaneous action selection with positive player interaction: The central mechanism of Septima revolves around the simultaneous, secret selection of one of the nine action cards each round: Move, Gather, Brewing, Healing, Recruitment, Appeal, Chanting, Ritual and Remembrance. Each action gains a strong bonus if selected by multiple players, but their simultaneous execution also raises suspicions among the city's inhabitants and attracts the attention of witch hunters. The decisions about when to perform a joint action (and with whom you will do it) add a fresh, semi-cooperative touch to a competitive game and a lot of player interaction.
Save witches to build your Coven: Heal, charm, or persuade the townsfolk and gather enough support to sway the periodic witch trials in your favor. If hostile witnesses are outvoted, the accused witch is acquitted and joins the witch who rescued her. You start small, but you can grow your coven to up to four witches this way, each with her own personality and unique ability to aid your cause. Careless witches captured by witch hunters are also put on trial, so with enough support from the townspeople, even witches from the covens of other, less careful players can end up in yours.
Accessible, intuitive and familiar: Septima is Mindclash Games' most approachable title to date, with a beautiful, hand-drawn art style by Villő Farkas and character art by Barbara Bernát, wooden components and intuitive, theme-inspired mechanics. It is very quick to teach and set up, and takes less than 2 hours to play, even with four players.
