Wingspan Pocket – Standalone Card Game
The Wingspan Pocket brings the beloved experience of Wingspan into a smaller, faster, and more accessible card game, designed by Elizabeth Hargrave. It is a fully standalone game from Stonemaier Games for 1–5 players, maintaining the world of birds and combination creation, but offering shorter gameplay lasting about 25–35 minutes.
In the Wingspan Pocket board game, each player creates a row of cards and in each round activates an entire row. The 106 cards are double-sided: one side depicts food and the other a bird, creating interesting decisions about how to utilize each card. The properties of the birds are primarily represented with icons instead of text, while a new type of power with ongoing green benefits is also introduced.
The game is designed to be easily accessible to new players, without losing the strategic interest sought by more experienced fans of Wingspan. It includes birds from around the world and also supports solo play through Automa, with separate solo rules and cards.
The Wingspan Pocket is neither an expansion nor a pocket version used alongside the base Wingspan. It is an independent Wingspan card game with its own rules and components, while its birds cannot be added to the original game.
With a small box, quick setup, and duration under an hour, it is an interesting choice for those looking for fast strategy card games, bird-themed games, family strategy games, or a shorter introduction to the world of Wingspan.
Smaller box, faster rounds — but a whole world of birds fits inside.
