The Terminator RPG Core Rulebook

The Terminator RPG Core Rulebook is the official role-playing game based on the film The Terminator and the related graphic novels published by Dark Horse comics. It serves as the sourcebook for the first Terminator film and its expanded universe and expands the hardcore existing rule set to create a living, breathing world with a multitude of possible timelines. The world is a wasteland—broken by the machines we built.

Our own creations, our own hubris. Not in some distant future. Today. Now. The machines think they have won, but there is one last chance for humanity- a secret weapon that Skynet, amidst its infinite calculations, could never have predicted: You. Play at any point in time – including the 1980s and the future war. Included are all the film's main characters, such as Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese and the T-800, as well as content from the graphic novels and all-new, unprecedented variants and Terminator material.

The rulebook includes two mission packs, allowing you to relive the film The Terminator and take part in the fight to bring down Skynet in a not-so-distant future war. You play resistance fighters battling Skynet's machine assault in an alternate, post-apocalyptic version of today - the once “distant future” of the 2020s. You can assume the role of time-traveling rebels sent back to various points in time to stop Skynet from changing history. You can even play natives of any historical period, who are targeted by Terminators and try to stay alive as a future hell erupts around them.

The Terminator RPG uses Nightfall Games' S5S system, first introduced in SLA Industries 2nd Edition. S5S is a d10-based rules system that uses a set of dice: one success die and five skill dice per player. The more skilled your character is at the task attempted, the more likely you are to succeed and to “achieve a great success”. The ruleset has been specially adapted for the environment of The Terminator RPG. The rules cover combat, survival and investigation, as well as vehicle combat, time travel and computer hacking, allowing your character to take control of the conflict with unique skills and training. You will need all of this and more to carry the fight across all timelines and survive.
