The Night Cage
You wake up in the dark, your skin is cold, your mind is blank. You have nothing but your fear, a flickering candle and one question: How long will your light last?
You are trapped and crawl your way through a pitch-black labyrinth. You are equipped only with dim candles and must cooperate to explore the maze and escape. Unfortunately, the weak light of your candles illuminates only your immediate surroundings. Worse still, terrifying Candle-eaters – monsters that loathe the light – lurk in the suffocating darkness. They wait for the right moment to strike!
The Night Cage is a fully cooperative tile-placement game. It is themed around the horror that traps 1-5 lost souls in an unnatural maze of eternal darkness. To win, players must each collect a key, find a gate and escape as a team.
Escape won't be easy, as each player's visibility is limited by the weak light of their candle. They only illuminate tiles that are directly connected to theirs. However, when players move, tiles that fall into darkness are removed from the game. Turning back the way you came only opens new paths. The old ones are lost forever, with critical keys and gates disappearing if your light moves away from them.
