Star Wars: Unlimited – Jump to Lightspeed: Booster Display (24 Boosters) – EN

With the release of “Twilight of the Republic”, the first year of Star Wars: Unlimited has concluded. However, this is only the beginning. Now, attention turns to the stars, as a new set is on the horizon, and this time, it's about space. Welcome to the official first look at “Jump to Lightspeed”, the exciting fourth set of Star Wars: Unlimited!

All of the first three sets of the first year had a strong focus on ground battles, with far more ground units than space ones. The first set of the second year flips that formula, with a strong emphasis on iconic starships, transports, and warships from various eras of the Star Wars galaxy. The emphasis on space is so great that this set introduces a new keyword: Piloting!

To start, we have two leaders to show you. In previous sets, the first two leaders revealed came from the set's Two-Player Starter. However, starting with the “Jump to Lightspeed” and for every set from here on, the Two-Player Starter will no longer be part of the product line. Instead, this set introduces a new product type: Spotlight Decks!

Spotlight Decks are pre-constructed decks that contain a mix of cards from various sets, with the cards from the new set making up the majority of the deck. Each Spotlight Deck contains five special rarity cards that are unique to that product, one of which is the leader card. Two Spotlight Decks will be released with each set, which means there are ten special rarity cards in total, the same number as the cards from previous sets' Two-Player Starters.

The first of the “Jump to Lightspeed” Spotlight Decks is Boba Fett. This tough bounty hunter specializes in damage via indirect attacks, a new mechanic introduced in this set. When the ability on his leader side is activated, you can exhaust Boba to deal 1 indirect damage to your opponent, which means they must choose one of their units or their base and assign it 1 unavoidable damage.

Boba Fett (and the other leader from the Spotlight Deck that we'll cover in a bit) is also the first instance of a leader with two different deployment options: the first allows him to be deployed as a leader unit normally, while the second allows him to be deployed as a “Pilot upgrade”. This turns Boba into a powerful upgrade that attaches to one of your vehicle units, turning that unit into a leader unit and significantly boosting its stats. He also has an ability that triggers when deployed as an upgrade, allowing him to deal significant damage to your opponent's units.

Leaders aren’t the only cards in this set that can be turned into pilot upgrades. Many unit cards, like Bossk, can be played as an upgrade thanks to the new keyword Piloting. Similar to the Smuggle keyword from “Shadows of the Galaxy”, Piloting has its own alternate cost that you pay to play the card instead of its usual cost. That means you can choose to play Bossk as a 4-cost unit or pay 2 resources to play him as a pilot upgrade on a vehicle unit.

As for Bossk’s ability, being able to deal small amounts of damage to your opponent’s units synergizes well with Boba Fett’s leader ability. Each time you can reduce an opponent unit’s health, it makes the opponent’s decision about where to assign indirect damage even harder, especially when a card like “No Disintegrations” can reduce a unit’s health to just 1 HP. Combine all that with powerful ships that focus on indirect damage, like the “Hunting Aggressor”, the “Zygerrian Starhopper” and the iconic “Fett’s Firespray”, and your opponent will have tough choices to make throughout the game!

The second Spotlight Deck of “Jump to Lightspeed” features Han Solo as its leader. As in his other printings in Star Wars: Unlimited, Han comes to the new set with an adaptive playstyle that encourages you to think quickly. His leader ability lets you look at the top card of your deck and then perform a boosted attack with one of your units, provided those two cards have different one-costs. Of course, that means Han’s entire deck is full of one-cost cards to maximize his effectiveness. Similar to leader Boba Fett, you can choose to deploy Han as a pilot upgrade, and when you do, you may immediately ready one resource for each friendly unit or upgrade with a one cost. If you play your cards correctly, you could potentially ready all your resources at once, opening many options and keeping your opponent on edge.

Speaking of options, Han Solo’s preconstructed deck wouldn’t be complete without the “Millennium Falcon”. This iconic ship allows you to attach an additional pilot upgrade to it (and it gains a power boost for each one), which means you could have Han Solo piloting the ship alongside his faithful companion Chewbacca, turning it into an absolute powerhouse. It will be difficult for your opponent to deal with the ship when it has 11 power, 11 HP and cannot be removed from the game by the abilities of your opponent’s cards!

Of course, the “Millennium Falcon” isn’t the only ace up Han Solo’s sleeve. Cards like “Never Tell Me the Odds” and “Death Space Skirmisher” can help you handle your opponent’s units, while cards like “Tandem Assault” can allow you to attack with two units at once. With careful planning and a bit of luck, Han’s deck can open the way and let you secure the victory!
