Board Game Porta Nigra
Augusta Treverorum was the largest city north of the Alps of the Roman Empire. Having been founded during the reign of Augustus, this city on the banks of the Moselle was built by generations of Roman architects in order to become the emperor's city of residence. It was counted among the most important cities in the early 4th century. The ruins of the most impressive buildings are still visitable today and more specifically the imposing Porta Nigra, otherwise ”Black Gate”.
The game Porta Nigra is set in that place and time, with the players taking on the roles of Roman architects working on the Porta Nigra gate. Each player commands a master builder, who moves around a circular piece on the game board, allowing you to buy or build only where that master builder is located. Moving him to more distant positions along the path is costly, so each player must plan their moves and build carefully. The number and type of actions that can be performed on your turn come from cards in your personal deck.
Buildings are, of course, constructed at the various locations of the city using three-dimensional pieces.
