Pop! Figure Texas Chainsaw Massacre Leatherface

Leatherface is a character from the series The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He first appeared in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) as the mentally disabled member of a family of disturbed cannibals, with the face masks and the chainsaw. He was created by Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel. Leatherface was partly inspired by the crimes of murderer Ed Gein from Wisconsin, apart from the confessions of serial killer Elmer Wayne Henley. The character has since been represented in various other media, including novels, video games and comics- appears in all nine films of the series.

The character's role is known to be physically and emotionally demanding, with actors portraying the character not only having to perform the necessary stunts related to the role, but also to give emotional depth to the character while wearing a mask that largely conceals most of their features. Actor Gunnar Hansen was the first and best-known actor to embody the character, and later became one of the character's most ardent supporters. After Hansen's portrayal of Leatherface, many other actors and stunt performers took on the role of the character during the series.

The character's physical appearance and personality have undergone many transformations over the years, with various writers and special effects makeup artists leaving their mark on the character and its design. Unique among horror villains, where most genre antagonists are usually classed as sadists or monsters, Leatherface is characterized as committing his brutal acts as a means of following his family's orders, while also killing out of fear. Leatherface gradually became a widely recognizable figure in popular culture, gaining the reputation of a cultural icon of the horror genre. He has been credited as one of the most influential characters of the slasher genre, as he inspired the stereotype of the bulky, masked and silent killer, preceding and even influencing horror characters such as Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. Leatherface has since been parodied and referenced in novels, films, games and television series, while serving as inspiration for many artistic expressions, fictional characters, heavy metal bands and wrestling gimmicks.
