The Trading Card Games have traveled players to fantasy worlds, space conflicts and epic battles. The Hellbreak TCG follows a different path, placing at the center horror and some of the most recognizable monsters and creatures of horror culture.
In Hellbreak, players do not simply create a deck with powerful cards. They choose the Monster that will lead their strategy, gather resources, control Locations and try to eliminate the opposing Monster. From Dracula and Jaws to the Death Angels of A Quiet Place, different horror worlds meet in a Trading Card Game that combines collection, deck building and competitive confrontations.
What is the Hellbreak TCG?;
The Hellbreak TCG it is a horror-themed Trading Card Game designed around head-to-head confrontations. Each player chooses a Monster and creates their strategy using different types of cards, with the ultimate goal of destroying the opponent's Monster.
The choice of the Monster is one of the most important elements of the experience. It is not just another card in the deck, but the central character around which the entire player's gameplay can develop.
Choose your Monster
At the beginning of each game, the Monster is already on the battlefield. The Monster Cards are double-sided and start from the side Lurking. As the confrontation evolves, the player can choose the right moment to flip the card and switch the Monster to the state Unleashed.
The two sides do not necessarily serve the same purpose. The Lurking form usually offers more resources, while the Unleashed side is more combat-oriented. Thus, when you will actually unleash your Monster is part of the strategy and not an automatic progression of the game.
Lurking or Unleashed: When will you unleash the Monster?;
The ability to transition from Lurking to Unleashed creates an interesting dilemma. A player may choose to wait, first building their resources and position in the game, or try to apply pressure earlier using the more aggressive side of the Monster.
The right moment depends on the situation on the table, the available cards, and the opponent's strategy. This means that even the same Monster can be used differently from game to game.
Building your power through the Vault
An important part of Hellbreak is the Vault, which serves as the player's source of power. During the game, you add cards to the Vault, gradually increasing the available resources and Aspect icons you need to play stronger cards.
The requirements of a card are not limited only to its cost. The system Loyalty requires you to also have the necessary number of corresponding Aspect icons in the Vault. Therefore, the development of the Vault directly affects which options you can use as the confrontation progresses.
The 5 Aspects of Hellbreak
The cards of Hellbreak are divided into five different Aspects, each of which represents a different philosophy and way of playing: Cursed, Deranged, Feral, Revenant, and Void.
The Cursed focuses more on rituals, endurance, and control, while the Deranged uses chaos and unpredictable behavior to its advantage. The Feral relies on speed and brute strength, the Revenant revolves around death and revenge, while the Void draws its power from the unknown and from forces that escape ordinary limits.
Monster, Minion, Asset, Event, and Location
Hellbreak uses different types of cards, each having a distinct role in battle. The Monsters are at the center of the confrontation, while the Minions act as allies and smaller threats that can attack, defend, activate different abilities, and help control the field.
The Assets include items, weapons, and skills that can enhance your strategy. The Events create immediate effects and can turn a situation around, while the Locations affect the battlefield and create new points of strategic interest.
Controlling the field is part of the battle
The confrontation in Hellbreak is not limited to a simple exchange of attacks between two Monsters. Players are called to manage their resources, use the appropriate cards, and claim control of important Locations.
In each round, they can play cards, attack, use abilities, scheme for control of the field, or prepare their next moves. The ultimate goal, however, remains clear: to deal enough damage to destroy the opposing Monster before the same happens to yours.
Famous horror characters in the same TCG
One of the elements that make the Hellbreak to stand out is the presence of recognizable characters and worlds of horror. The Dracula is among the Monsters that have already been presented, while the Jaws brings the threat of Amity Island to the table.
At the same time, in the first set, characters and creatures such as the Headless Horseman, the Bride and the Death Angels from A Quiet Place are presented. In this way, different versions of horror can coexist within the same game.
The Monster does not limit your entire deck
An interesting aspect of deck building is that the choice of Monster does not necessarily dictate every other card you will use. The player can combine their Monster with different Locations and cards from the main deck, creating combinations that do not have to strictly follow the same horror theme.
This opens the way for more experimentation. Instead of exclusively creating a thematic deck around a specific character, you can seek card combinations that work better with the strategy and the way you want to play.
Dawn of Terror: The first set of Hellbreak
The first collection of the game is called Dawn of Terror and serves as the starting point for Hellbreak TCG. Through this, the first Monsters, Minions, Events, Assets, and Locations are presented with which players can create their initial strategies.
For those who want to start playing directly, the 2-Player Starter Set has been designed to include everything two players need for their first match and features exclusive Monster Cards for Jaws and Dracula.
Booster Packs and the collectible aspect of Hellbreak
As is the case in Trading Card Games, a significant part of Hellbreak is also the collection. The Dawn of Terror Booster Packs include 13 cards, with each pack guaranteed to contain one foil, one borderless, and one Rare or higher rarity card.
Cards appear in different rarities, from Common and Uncommon to Rare, Legendary, Infamous, and Special. At the same time, there are different card treatments, such as Bordered, Borderless, and Borderless Foil, adding an additional collectible character to the game.
More than just a game for horror fans
The theme may be the first element to catch the attention of a horror fan, but Hellbreak has also been designed with competitive play in mind. Deck creation, Vault management, the different Aspects, and the choice of the right moment to unleash a Monster add different levels of strategy.
Thus, one might approach Hellbreak because they want to collect cards with beloved horror characters, while another player may focus more on deck building and competitive matches.
From casual play to tournaments
Hellbreak is not designed only for casual matches among friends. The official Organized Play has been created for games in stores, events, and tournaments, giving players the opportunity to gradually evolve their participation in the community.
Through the official competitive ecosystem, rankings, tournament registrations, and rewards are provided, with the game aiming for a path that starts from local play and can reach larger events.
