Codenames: Marvel combines the successful word game Codenames with characters and locations from the Marvel universe, such as Spider Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Avengers and Doctor Strange.
In Codenames, two teams – S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra in this case – compete to see who will be the first to correctly guess all the agents of their side (who are identified either by a word or by an image) – but those agents are hiding in plain sight on a 5×5 grid that includes the agents of the other team, neutral words, and an assassin who will make you lose the game immediately if you guess them.
One person on each team is a spy and only those two know which agents belong to each team. The spymasters take turns giving one-word clues that can help their teammates identify multiple agents on the board. Their teammates try to guess the agents of the correct color, while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team – and everyone wants to avoid the assassin.
