The Above and Below: Haunted is the new, standalone strategy and exploration board game from Red Raven Games, which is being released in 2025 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the original Above and Below. Set in the enchanting world of Arzium, the game offers a unique storytelling experience, combining exploration, resource collection and village management mechanics.
Players take on the role of families leaving their marshy homelands, seeking a new life in an area full of lakes and underground caves. However, this new landscape hides ghosts that can haunt their buildings, reducing their reputation. Players can perform exorcism actions to remove the ghosts, placing them in other players' buildings and earning rewards.
The game introduces two types of caves: regular and dangerous. Dangerous caves require more lanterns to explore but offer greater rewards, such as pearls that count as the most valuable commodity at the end of the game. Additionally, it introduces new buildings, ships that affect dice rolls or provide coins, and 40 unique adventure cards acquired through exploration.
