No Thank you
No Thanks! is a card game designed to be as simple as it is engaging. The rules are simple. In each round, players have two options:
*to play one of their chips to avoid taking the current face-up card.
*to take the face-up card (along with the chips that have already been played on that card) and reveal the next card.
However, the choices are not so easy, because players compete for the lowest score at the end of the game. The deck of cards is numbered from 3 to 35, and each card counts for a number of points equal to its face value. Runs of two or more cards count only the lowest value of the run – but nine cards are removed from the deck before the start, so be careful when looking for links. Each token is worth -1 point, but it can be even more valuable, as it allows you to avoid taking the unwanted card.
The first editions of the game supported up to five players, but the 2011 German edition supports up to seven (simply by increasing the number of tokens).
The game was originally published in Germany in 2004 by Amigo under the name Geschenkt …ist noch zu teuer!, which means Even if given as a gift, it's still too expensive!. Amigo's 2006 international edition, titled No Merci! (a delightful multilingual pun), had rules in multiple languages, including English. The game was later released in other countries under various names. The 2024 German edition includes additional cards that allow the game to be played with variant rules.
