Ghost Castle – The Tower of Ghosts
The κclassic three-dimensional game with the Haunted house from the seventies. Players move their pawns on the board trying to be the first to escape from the house. Along the way they draw cards that either:
a) they turn you into a mouse (you cannot move)
b) they turn you back into a child if you are a mouse, or
c) you are made to drop the ball “whammy” down the chimney. The “whammy” ball comes out in one of the four quadrants of the game's board and causes something to move (witch's broom, secret door, etc.). If a player's token (or the mouse) is hit by the ball or the moving object, it is sent back to a “safe” spot. Ages 6 – 12 years.
Some extra information:
The game was released in two editions: a large-box edition in 1970 with a fold-out board and a slim-box edition in 1971 with a folding board.
The Finnish edition known as Kummituslinna did not use cards for the events, but a wheel that I used to spinthe players. Kummituslinna had a high-quality plastic tower and ladder instead of cardboard. The Italian edition of the game was released by MB and was called “Brivido!”. It had a plastic central tower and a glow-in-the-dark skull instead of the ball. Also, the plastic markers of the “scared guy” glow in the dark and the cards have been replaced by a spinner (the Greek edition also had the glow-in-the-dark skull and the spinner). The Hungarian version of the game is known as “Szellemkastély” and also had a plastic central tower, a wheel instead of cards and a skull that glowed in the dark.
The British edition of the game, under the name Ghost Castle, also featured the black plastic central tower, the skull that glows in the dark and the rotating wheel.
