The Starry Night over the Rhône (September 1888) is one of Vincent van Gogh's night paintings of Arles. It was painted at a point on the bank of the Rhône that was one or two minutes from the Yellow House on Place Lamartine which van Gogh rented during that period. The night sky and the effects created by light at night were the subject of some of his famous paintings, including Café Terrace at Night (which he had painted earlier that same month) and the later Saint-Rémy painting The Starry Night.
