Pop! Albums: Motörhead Ace of Spades
Ace of Spades is the fourth studio album by the British rock band Motörhead, released in October 1980 by Bronze Records. It is the group's most commercially successful album, reaching number four on the UK Albums Chart and achieving gold status in the United Kingdom by March 1981. It had been preceded by the release of the title track as a single on 27 October, which reached No 15 on the UK Singles Chart in early November.
It was the band's first release in the United States, with Mercury Records handling distribution in North America. In 2020, the album was ranked at number 408 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
The album includes some of the band's most popular songs, such as “The Chase Is Better Than the Catch”, “(We Are) the Road Crew” and the hit single “Ace of Spades”, which reached No. 15 on the UK Singles Chart.
